52 Lists: Nine

52 Lists: List your best qualities

I found this topic really difficult. I hate writing about myself. It's just a kind of awkward situation that involves a bit of separation from yourself so you can look in from outside and a lot of self awareness. Or maybe that's me over-thinking it! Well anyway I gave it a shot then asked my friends to give me a few things too. So here we have the collective effort:
  1. I always try to be optimistic about situations (yes I'm a glass half full kind of girl)
  2. I'm always on hand to bring you comfort food and a cuddle
  3. I can bake pretty awesome cakes
  4. I love a chat
  5. I love meeting new people and hearing about their lives ( Yes bloggers that includes you lot so please drop us a line on twitter or email: katethompson45@gmail.com )
  6. I will listen even though I don't always have a solution
It was mega mega hard. When I sat down to write I couldn't think of anything so hopefully this list is just a little snapshot (I hope).

I love hearing from you so let me know what you think.

It's the Little Things - Part 2

Friends are just so important and the smiles in this photo just show this. On Sunday one of my friends was home from uni so we took her out for lunch. We just chatted and played silly games in a lovely little cafe who allowed us to move chairs around so we could all fit in. Then the sun came out and we perused the charity shops for a few bargains and took a walk in the garden. Seeing a bit of sun and sitting laughing was a lovely way to spend my Sunday. It's these little moments that make friendships and happiness.

What has made you happy this week?

A Rather Late Happy Valentine's Day

Hope you're all had a great Valentine's day. It's a day to show your love to those you love. Therefore I have got involved in Lauren's Secret Sweetheart swap and here is what winged it's way to my door in the swap:

Thanks so much to Vicky for these wonderful presents. After work yesterday I scoffed the chocolates but despite my intentions the Lush Massage Bar is yet to be used. Planning got in the way again! However there are beautiful wafts coming from it so it won't be long before I have to use it.

In another nod to Valentine's day this has been my weekly nail varnish. It is actually a little darker than it looks in the photo and has a nice subtle shimmer.

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's day but remember to love everyone in your life everyday!
If your interested to see what I bought and gave then pop over the see Leanne at A Slice of My Life...

52 Lists: Eight

52 Lists: List the good things about your town

  1. The quiet... the fact that there are so few sounds that I can identify them all when I'm in that drowsy state before I make up fully.
  2. The wild flowers growing by the side of the road that make me think that spring might just be on it's way.
  3. Being able to see the stars because there isn't any light pollution
  4. The fact that I can have a cheery conversation with any of my neighbours when I see them
  5. The fact that I've never experienced any flooding on the scale that has been in the news recently. For this I am thankful.
  6. It's safe
  7. I am a short drive from many of my friends and seeing my family
  8. Plenty of places for dog walks
  9. That when I was a child the countryside was the perfect playground. I could climb trees and adventure everywhere.
  10. It's a great community with events such as family barbeques.
I really do love this series. Go pop over to see Ema at Made in Hunters to see her lists and topics.

52 List: Seven

52 Lists: List your to do list this week

  1. Find out what that strange rumbly noise is in my car (update: I have just been to the garage and found out that it's nothing to worry about or in the mechanic's words "it's going to have to get worse before I can work out what it is". That fills me with delight but at least it's sorted and before 10am on Monday morning!)
  2. Plan all this week's sessions
  3. Send lots of postcards to all my uni Friends
  4. Organise 'Chai and chat' with my friends on Sunday (my first Sunday off for ages!)
  5. Don't forget course on Thursday
  6. Whilst most who work in schools are counting down until half term I will be working all week so lots of planning to be done on a musicals theme so it's not all bad. Now to chose a musical!
  7. Set up Internet banking (also done by 11am)
  8. Again find my inner public speaker and get ready for a series of assemblies
  9. Go to the post office
  10. Explore one of the villages I work in on my break
So the idea this week was my to do list but not the one that looks good on the blog. The things you actually have to get done this week, the real life things. I'm really looking forward to reading everyone else's this week because it's a little snapshot into a bloggers real everyday life.
This series is the brainchild of Ema at Made in Hunters. Do pop by and have a look.

Let me know what's on your list

It's the Little things

This came in the post for me yesterday and I must say it made my day. Yes I saw all my friends that have gone off to Uni at Christmas but only 6 months ago I was seeing them all day everyday. Therefore a beautiful hand designed postcard wending it's way to me means an awful lot. I think getting anything through the post is special (apart from bills of course!) because it shows people have made the effort, in a very instant online society. And if it's handmade that's even better.

I also for once have nails that are not chipped or broken which makes me happy. I work in quite a masculine environment and uniform so little touches such as having nice nails can give me a boost.

I think these little things do make us feel much better so I'm hoping to make this kind of post a regular thing.

Meanwhile I must be off to write some postcards. What has made you smile this week?

52 Lists: Six

52 Lists: List the things that make you happy you're alive

  1. Sunsets and sunrises
  2. Crisp cold days where it's so cold you can see your breath and pretend you're a dragon. (although I obviously don't do such childish things!).
  3. Laughter everyday
  4. All the amazing feedback I get from coaching and teaching - makes it all worthwhile
  5. The swirling patterns of frost on my car
  6. Smiles
  7. The fact that I have already seen many snowdrops (spring is actually coming!)
  8. Baking and cooking with my friends. It's great to sit down to a meal that we've just spent time preparing.
  9. When my nail varnish is just perfect although it chips after about 2 seconds so this is very short-lived.
  10. Barbecues and other social eating occasions
  11. Tea and cakes or maybe a cream tea.
  12. Long chats about life with Mum over hot chocolate in the evenings
  13. How if you look up into the night sky you can see things that are millions of miles away and happening millions of years ago but yet standing here you can still change your own way in the world. Plus stars are so pretty.
I loved this week's topic. I chose a mix of really big things and some small everyday things that make you smile. I think this might be a list I revisit because I just know I could have gone on for 100's of things in this one.

Again take a look at Made in Hunters where Ema is creating this great project. Also Scarlett has made a list (yes we all love a list) of all the bloggers involved in 52 Lists here so hop over there to see everyone else has put for the topics.

I'd love to hear your thoughts
